Remakes
Mar 17th, 2008 by chinmayogale
In last couple of years a new phase in Indian cinema has started and i.e. “Remaking” some yester year film. Concept of remaking a film is not new in west. Many superhit /cult classic films have been remade in recent times. However, few gutsy film-makers from India decided and have started remaking old “Classic” films. Here I have mentioned word “classic” in particular because if we observe in India anything which is more than 20-30 years old becomes classic. As I am talking about films, if some film was made 30 years ago then it is not called as hit or flop but it is called as “Classic”. Read the rest of this entry »
Jodhaa Akbar
Feb 18th, 2008 by chinmayogale
A lot has been said and heard about Jodhaa Akbar before its release. Historicals don’t work at box office. Making a historical is not everyone’s cup of tea. But master director Ashutosh Gowariker shows that if one is having conviction, vision and guts to make a particular film then it can be made. Jodhaa Akbar is such one film and one can see efforts put in by entire cast & crew. Finally, Jodhaa Akbar emerges as a brilliant, amazing film in true sense. When watching Jodhaa Akbar, don’t look out for facts and history.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa
Nov 19th, 2007 by chinmayogale
Finally, I watched the much discussed film “
Bhool Bhulaiyaa “. After watching the film I was wondering, what were the intentions of director and screen-writer behind making this film. Director
Priyadarshan and screen-writer
Neeraj Vora have
handled a serious subject like “Para-psychology” in very immature and childish way.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa is another stupid
hindi film, which defies logic, is having lots and lots of loose ends in screenplay. In first hour of the film film-maker has
succeeded in creating a little bit of suspense but not an engrossing story. The major drawback of the film is
Aditya’s (
Akashay Kumar ) explanation of
Avni’s (
Vidya Balan ) case to
Siddharth (Shiny
Ahuja ).

Sivaji The Boss Rocks
Jun 27th, 2007 by chinmayogale
Sivaji The Boss truly rocks. I watched Sivaji just out of curiosity even if I didn’t understood the single word of tamil dialogues. However, I still enjoyed the movie. I will say Sivaji is not just another film, its an experience. One should watch the film just for Rajni’s style, his screen presence.

James “Daniel Craig” Bond
Nov 20th, 2006 by chinmayogale
Welcome back Mr James “Daniel Craig” Bond. I was eagerly waiting for the release of “Casino Royale” and at last I watched it yesterday. Casino Royale is just brilliant, awesome and all due credit goes to Daniel Craig. No need to say that Daniel Craig has proved himself as an actor in Munich, Layer Cake but playing James Bond is altogether different game. However, Mr. Daniel Craig carries the role with élan and delivers a knock out performance. Daniel Craig is not a routine James Bond. He is not handsome, sexy in conventional sense. He is different compared to earlier bonds. Daniel Craig’s bond is rugged, tough and he is like who can kill 20-25 baddies with his bare hands.

The Man of Steel
Jun 30th, 2006 by chinmayogale
Today, “Look up in the sky”. Man of Steel “Superman” and my favorite super hero returns to the silver screen. Brandon Routh plays the Superman, Kevin Spacey plays superman’s arch enemy Lex Luthor and beautiful Kate Bosworth plays Lois Lane, who is still in love with man of steel. Bryan “X-Men” Singer has helmed the responsibility of bringing back man of steel to the silver screen. Looking back at Bryan’s history – Usual Suspects, X-Men and X-Men 2, Superman Returns can be another feather in his cap.
“Superman Returns” is supposedly this summer’s most awaited flick and predictions are that it will re-write the box-office history. Check out the official site: http://supermanreturns.warnerbros.com/
