UDAAN

Udaan
Udaan

This is a best film of the year. Beautiful, poignant and touching. It requires sheer guts to produce such kind of film without getting bogged down by commercial trappings. Screenplay is to the point and director Vikramaditya Motwane succeeds as a fine storyteller.

Billy Elliot

Billy Elliot

I don’t know how many times more I am going to see “Billy Elliot”.  I already have seen it for couple of times and still can’t get over with it. A story of a motherless boy who chooses ballet shoes against boxing gloves. A very subtle treatment by director Stephen Daldry.

Inglourious Basterds

The trailer of visionary director Quentin Tarantino’s next film “Inglourious Basterds” is out. The trailer is looking extremely promising. Quentin Tarantino surely pushes the envelope further with each of his films. May it be his debut film Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown or Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2. Check out the trailer.

A True Genius – A. R. Rahman

“A. R. Rahman”, the only indian music composer who knows the importance of background score for a film. Just check out the cast and credits of these two major Hollywood productions “The Inside Man” and “Lord of War“. The makers of “The Inside Man” have used Rahman’s all time hit song “Chaiyya Chaiyya” as a background music when opening and closing credit roll.

Mangal Pandey

Hey God, please forgive Ketan Mehta, Aamir Khan and Farokh Dhondy for making a disgusting movie called “Mangal Pandey – The Rising”. 7 years in making, 1000 prints worldwide and so called India’s answer to Academy Award Winner “Braveheart”. I don’t understand on what basis the makers have made such hype. Rising is a complete let down. Also I haven’t understood why all the critics are praising Rising and have given 4 start rating. I sincerely doubt about the home work done by Ketan Mehta and Farokh Dhondy.

Ab Tak 56

“When we have information, we kill criminals. When we don’t have information, we kill time. Don’t be restless. Be patient.”

This is the dialogue from the RGV production and Shimit Amin directed “Ab Tak 56”. This is the only movie which takes a realistic look at the life of an encounter cop.

The Rising

Finally it begins. The much awaited ‘Rising’ promos are on air now. And promos are looking very promising. The promo is hardly of 1 minute duration. Promo opens with the titles and then Aamir Khan climbing the stairs and in the background song ‘Mangal Mangal’ by Kailash Kher is played.
